Rabbi_Dovid_August_2011Rabbi Dovid Lewis is the Rabbi of South Manchester Synagogue.

He comes from a well-established Manchester family, who have been involved in Jewish education for many decades.

Rabbi Dovid studied at Yeshivot in England and Israel. He received Semicha in Israel in 1999, after which he moved to the Crimea where he opened and ran the first Jewish day school. He has a BA with Hons. from Jews College and SOAS as well as an MA Distinction from Durham University.

He is married to Nachi (nee Segelman) from London and they have two daughters, Chaya and Tzivia. They have been in the Anglo-Jewish Rabbinate for over 10 years, serving communities in Chigwell and Newcastle before arriving in South Manchester in 2011.




Chazan MicChazan Isdale February 2007hael Isdale has a lifelong connection with South Manchester Synagogue, having been brought up within the community and even celebrating his Bar Mitzvah at our former home in Wilbraham Road.

After studying at Jew’s College and then at the Royal Academy, he received his Chazanut Diploma in 1976.



As well as having served our congregation at Wilbraham Road, Chazan Michael has also served as Cantor at the Heaton Park and Yeshurun Synagogues, before re-joining us at South Manchester Synagogue upon our move to Bowdon in 2002.

He is married to Tanya and they have two sons, Jonathan and Adam.
